Catch Up

My computer was in the shop for a week which is why I have not been on here for a while. Lots of stuff has been going on.  I think I’m going to take each crisis/happening per one entry.

Last Monday I had my monthly appointment with my Rheumatologist for my Orencia infusion.  Between months I had done a bone density test.  Insurance companies allow you to get them every two years.  The test in 2008 had revealed I had Osteopenia which is the pre-cursor to Osteoporosis.  It was a blow to me back then, being only 38 and not really fitting the profile of someone who should have this.  Due to me still having regular periods I could only really take Vitamin D and calcium.

Two years later I now have Osteoporosis!  I was really shocked that I had declined that badly considering my age and that I was taking the supplements.  My doctor is running tests to see why this is happening.  In the meantime he told me to make sure my floor is free of objects I might trip on and not “hurry anywhere”.  Hello, I have a three-and-a-half year old?  It’s impossible to keep a sparkling clean floor!

In the meantime I am so stressed out because I have so many deadlines for paperwork for disability and food stamps.  I feel like I could be up for 24 hours straight and never get all this work done.  Which is impossible anyway since I sleep and rest over twelve hours a day.

About mamasick

Emily Cullen is a pen-name. I suffer from chronic illnesses and diseases which include Bipolar Disorder, Asthma, Diabetes and Fibromyalgia. I had battled Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis but there is no longer evidence of me having these diseases and my Rheumatologist has declared them to be "burnt out" of my system. I am separated from my husband, “Grant”. Our son, “Tyler” was born in September of 2006 and suffers from tics and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and is delayed in fine and gross motor skills. In my blog I seek to let sick moms know that they are not the only ones going through this, and to educate people about what can happens when one becomes catastrophically ill. I also strive to break down stereotypes of what a “Welfare Mom” is like. Anything that I have gone through due to being sick, is written on the pages of Mama Sick.
