I Put My In Contacts For This?

Yesterday was my son’s Mother’s Day Tea at daycare.  I was determined to go, despite having had migraines for two days and a cold sore and some threatening to come out, along with the usual issues.

I had gone to the eye doctor this week so I could get new contact lenses.  I did my hair and picked out an outfit that looked nice with one of the only two pairs of summer sandals I can still walk in.  (I gotta get more nice flip-flops.) I treated myself to my first pedicure of the year. I usually get one first for to begin the summer and one to end the summer.

I went to the tea and ran into some of the mothers I knew, who gossiped about school goings-on and emails which I usually just relegate to the trash.  The children sang three little songs.  I couldn’t seem to get any good pictures.  I had the perfect one except some little bitch three-year-old stepped into my shot.

Out tea consisted of iced tea and fruit salad, which I could not eat due to fruit allergies.  After that Tyler promptly told me he wanted to go home.  He was starting to cry.

So, I was there for about half an hour but did receive a lovely plant and card from my child.

Tomorrow we are going to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mother, brother and sister-in-law. Next weekend the three of us are going to have our own little Mother’s Day.  This Mother’s Day is exciting for me because Tyler finally “gets” the concept and is excited about giving me my presents.

I probably won’t get the chance tomorrow so I wish all celebrating a Happy Mother’s Day!

About mamasick

Emily Cullen is a pen-name. I suffer from chronic illnesses and diseases which include Bipolar Disorder, Asthma, Diabetes and Fibromyalgia. I had battled Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis but there is no longer evidence of me having these diseases and my Rheumatologist has declared them to be "burnt out" of my system. I am separated from my husband, “Grant”. Our son, “Tyler” was born in September of 2006 and suffers from tics and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and is delayed in fine and gross motor skills. In my blog I seek to let sick moms know that they are not the only ones going through this, and to educate people about what can happens when one becomes catastrophically ill. I also strive to break down stereotypes of what a “Welfare Mom” is like. Anything that I have gone through due to being sick, is written on the pages of Mama Sick.
